Natural Selection Gallery

A series of handcrafted prints giving a slightly quirky take on vegetables and botanical matter. All these prints spring from photographs I've taken. I transfer the photographic image on to photo-sensitive film which forms the basis of the plate. I then ink up the plate and make a print. Editions are small - no more than 10.

Asparagus has often been the subject of drawings and paintings over the centuries. People talk about asparagus 'spears' but I wanted to suggest something different. In this guise they're more like little elfin characters, chatting to their pals. And the background is a little fizzy and mysterious. What's really going on?
