Natural Selection Gallery

A series of handcrafted prints giving a slightly quirky take on vegetables and botanical matter. All these prints spring from photographs I've taken. I transfer the photographic image on to photo-sensitive film which forms the basis of the plate. I then ink up the plate and make a print. Editions are small - no more than 10.

I gathered a few sycamore keys early in the season, when they were still green. I wanted to arrange them in an interesting pattern - in this arrangement I was trying to imply that they were floating upwards rather than drifting downwards. But in the end the title 'Whirlygigs' (a word I remembered from my childhood) seemed to say it all. There are only 7 impressions in this edition.
