Natural Selection Gallery
A series of handcrafted prints giving a slightly quirky take on vegetables and botanical matter. All these prints spring from photographs I've taken. I transfer the photographic image on to photo-sensitive film which forms the basis of the plate. I then ink up the plate and make a print. Editions are small - no more than 10.
Image info
I wanted to try and make art from a bit of fruit/veg waste that's normally thrown out in the garbage. I've been trying out a few ideas with tomato vines - I love the delicacy of the star-shaped tomato flower things (the stems? must get their proper name). I laid this particular vine on the floor and took several photographs of it.
This print has been selected for the VAS 2016 exhibiton in the RSA building in Edinburgh in January/February 2016.
