Sketches Gallery

My work is inspired by landscape and nature, and I sketch outdoors to record my observations and thoughts. There is something meditative about sketching in the wilds, and I like to take time to absorb the atmosphere of a place and recreate this in a painting or drawing. Sketching helps me feel in tune with the landscape. I also like to sketch on my travels, including trips to Italy, Portugal and Canada.
I sketch with charcoal, pencil, pastels and ink, depending on the weather and the mood – and the time available. Here are some of my sketches. If you're interested, you can also have a look at my blog to see what I'm currently up to.
